Dimanex & partners: the impact of AM on supply chain and engineering software
Over the last few months, you might have noticed that Dimanex has been forming numerous partnerships with existing supply chain and engineering software providers. These partnerships bring the significant impact Additive Manufacturing (AM) can have to supply chains and product development. It enhances the value partners provide to their customers and offers economic and sustainability benefits for end users.
In this article, we’ll dive a little deeper into this subject. We’ll talk about the specific benefits, outline the process, and provide examples of successful collaborations.
Why do we establish these partnerships?
Since the beginning of Dimanex, we’ve had a clear vision for the market. From the get-go, we've emphasized that for the adoption of AM, we shouldn't focus on the back end of the chain (execution and printing). Instead, we should be focusing on the front end (supply chain and product development), where the actual need or problem exists and for which AM can provide solutions.
Established and successful supply chain and engineering software companies already dominate this area. Given the benefits AM can bring right away, why not integrate it into the software of these existing software providers? This is a driver of change and leads to immediate new value for these software companies' customers and so, to more business for them!
What are the benefits for end users?
By embedding, integrating, or making our AM cloud-based services available in existing software, you add value to a solution that’s already used by end users, so little to no change is needed. But what exactly are the benefits for end users?
To start, there are two domains in which our AM cloud-based services can provide value: analytical supply chain software, and engineering & product development software. Here’s what the application of AM through our platform can accomplish within these domains:
Dimanex in supply chain software
- Provides supply chain managers (and others) with the right tools to analyze how to optimize an existing supply chain through, for example, local printing.
- Identifies if and which parts could benefit from AM, ranging from immediate local printing to re-designing parts to save material and cost.
- Highlights and quantifies the positive impact on inventory value, production costs, lead time, and transport.
- Offers a clear and quantified view of AM opportunities within an existing supply chain before implementation.
- Demonstrates how AM can contribute to specific KPIs, for instance in the sustainability domain, offering metrics that can be used in e.g. ESG reports.
Dimanex in engineering and product development software
- Support engineers in their product development and parts production processes by giving them insights into the possibilities of AM.
- Analyze their current parts portfolio and immediately identify which components are suitable, unsuitable, or potentially suitable for re-design and or 3D printing.
- Providing insights into the impact this would have on costs, production time, delivery, inventory, and sustainability.
- Conducting an analysis of the opportunities within their portfolio to (re)design and optimize parts for AM.
- Highlighting the impact of creating lighter, stronger, less complex, more sustainable, and more efficient parts.
How to integrate Dimanex into existing software?
There are two primary ways to integrate our AM software into your existing supply chain or engineering software. One option is to make Dimanex available in your App Store, enabling users to download the app and access the Dimanex platform directly from your software.
The other option is to fully integrate our software solution with your own software, seamlessly blending our tools and functionalities with yours. We are also open to exploring alternative integration options, tailored to your needs.
We have our software & system integration partners ready to support in any kind of integration process desired!
The value of AM in existing software
AM has become an indispensable factor in any modern supply chain or product development process. As a software supplier, you can easily integrate AM to the benefit of your customers with minimal effort.
This integration not only enhances the value of your software but also opens up significant opportunities for users to optimize their supply chain and realize their product goals. Whether it's reducing material and weight, cutting costs or improving sustainability, AM plays a crucial role in reaching these goals.
Existing partnerships with global leaders
We have an extensive network of software partners already! We’ve partnered with global leaders in data & AI like SAS, engineering software like Autodesk and Ansys and supply chain software providers like Coupa. Look out for more to come in our News section!
